The Continental Céilí (2024)

Far from their usual stomping ground at Sydney’s Gaelic Club, this mongrel band of troubadours puts a new spin on Irish traditional music. Hailing from Portugal, Sweden, the wild western suburbs of Sydney and even a token Irish man, the All-Stars bring their mutant take on Irish trad to the Gasoline Pony for the first time. Forced to navigate the Australian cultural landscape, with its many prejudices and exclusions, these musicians have found community in their passion for Irish music.

Directed by Enda Murray; The Continental Céilí premiered at the Irish Film Festival in Sydney in 2024 before travelling to Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Canberra.

Taking Roots (Music) to Australia – An Irish and Ghanaian Celebration (2023)

In May 2023 Sydney’s Gaelic Club was the venue for a unique musical event that combined Irish and Ghanaian song and dance in a celebration of the connections between the two communities. The gig at the Gaelic Club in Devonshire Street was the culmination of a project that brought together Irish and African musicians who rehearsed and devised new material which combined Irish and African instruments and rhythms. Taking Roots (Music) to Australia is a short documentary that goes behind the scenes to explore this process.

Taking Roots (music) to Australia also features interviews with the musicians which explore the experience of migration to Australia which is common to the performers from both cultures.

Directed by Enda Murray and Natalie O’Neill; Taking Roots (Music) to Australia premiered at the Irish Film Festival in Sydney in 2023.

Along the way we hear the heartwarming stories of Luke’s dad Malachy (a military man!) and Luke’s mum Pauline (who makes Luke’s costumes) and how they reconciled with their flamboyant son.

Directed by Enda Murray and Scarlett Potter; Peaches premiered at the Irish Film Festival in Sydney in 2022 before travelling to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra.
